Building Transformative Platforms

Our work is forward-looking, unique and diverse. We combine design thinking, data analysis, visualization skills and collaborative approaches to build 21st century information platforms and media solutions.

We Believe

THE GLOBAL INFORMATION LANDSCAPE is rapidly changing and affecting our lives and communities. Today, for the first time in human history, we are producing more information than we can absorb. This surge in information poses new challenges, but also creates avenues for innovation. The challenge we are faced with is to effectively leverage data into actionable insights. We must prepare for a data-driven future.

Five Years On: Combating Misinformation in India

We’re proud partners of Google News Initiative in an effort to train and support journalists across India in their fight against misinformation. The Network has so far trained over 54,000+ journalists, media educators and journalism students in at least 15 languages across India, benefiting hundreds of newsrooms and universities. It was launched in July 2018 through a partnership between Google, Internews, DataLEADS, with technical and programmatic support from BoomLive and Alt News, First Draft and Storyful.

Today it has become one of the world’s biggest and most impactful fact-checking training networks, equipping a new generation of Indian journalists and media educators with tools and strategies to spot and debunk misinformation at a time when misinformation aided and abetted by social media is a growing problem that is threatening our lives and society.

Fighting Medical Misinformation, One Story At A Time

Awarded with the Membership Puzzle Project by New York University and Fact Checking Innovation Initiative by Facebook journalism Project and IFCN.

A flagship project done in partnership with Reporter ohne Grenzen e.V. – the German section of the international human rights organization Reporters without Borders (Reporters sans frontières), is a research study that studied the ownership pattern of newspaper and electronic media in India. The mandate of the project was to ascertain through a comprehensive analytical study who owns the media -- and ultimately answers the question who controls the media.

The Media Ownership Monitor (India) is a part of global research which has been developed as a mapping tool in order to create a publicly available, continuously updated database that lists owners of all relevant mass media outlets - press, radio, television and online media. The project aims to shed light on the risks to media pluralism caused by media ownership concentration.

The Media Ownership Monitor – India finds out that while the ownership of media seems fairly plural at the national level, it is highly concentrated when one zooms into the regional level. More importantly, prominent national players have ceded their position of eminence at the regional level, where local players rule.
